PATA SAN DIEGO CHAPTER
Member Code of Conduct and Participation Policy

Purpose

The Member Code of Conduct establishes consistent expectations for all Members (Advisors and Suppliers) participating in PATA San Diego Chapter events and meetings or other industry events (ship inspections, familiarization trips (FAM), and meetings).  The Member Code of Conduct is intended to enhance the reputation of the organization, strengthen supplier relationships, ensure fairness, professionalism, accountability, and respect.

Core Expectations

• Actively represent PATA San Diego Chapter with professionalism, integrity, courtesy, and gratitude.

• Treat all your contacts with respect.

• Arrive on time and participate in scheduled activities.

• Avoid public criticism of others; provide constructive feedback privately.

• Use social media responsibly and professionally.

• Do not discuss confidential PATA San Diego Chapter matters with suppliers or guests.

• Support fellow Members and promote a positive team environment.

• Use alcohol responsibly.

Familiarization Trip (FAM) Core Expectations and Fair Participation

In addition to the preceding Core Expectations, the following are applicable to FAM participation:

• Participation in a FAM is a privilege, not an entitlement.

• Member participation in a specific supplier-hosted FAM may not occur in consecutive years.

• Priority should be given to Members who have had fewer hosted opportunities.

• Members shall not pressure others regarding FAM selection.

• Never request gifts, upgrades, or special favors for your participation.

• FAM selection should be based on applicability, supplier preferences, and educational value.

• Be prepared to make a presentation about the FAM experience at a general meeting/event.

• Write a short article with images for the website blog.

• Participant must be a Member

• The Administrative Coordinator may respond to a supplier's inquiry regarding a proposed participant.

Accountability

• In the event of a member concern, have a private discussion with the Board Chair and/or Administrator.

• Formal Board review, if appropriate.

• Written warning, if appropriate.

• Suspension or removal from future FAM representation opportunities when warranted.

Policy Review

This policy shall be reviewed annually. Amendments may be proposed by any Board Member and shall require approval by a majority vote of the Board.
